Pulitzer Climate Change International Reporting Grants Available!

March 9, 2017

The Pulitzer Center for International Crisis Reporting, in partnership with the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, is offering a $2,000 grant to report on a climate change issue of your choosing overseas (or in exceptional cases, the US).  Any current Yale student, grad or undergrad, is eligible.  Please be aware that the deadline is next Monday, March 13th.

In addition to the travel grant, the Pulitzer Center will provide guidance and mentoring for the aspiring journalist, culminating in a networking event in early October at their HQ in Washington DC to share the final project with other fellows and established reporters.  The project can be a news article, a video or an audio story/podcast.  All fellows are asked to submit photos, a written narrative, and video or audio, focusing their full reporting on one of the three media.

Check out student fellow reporting and presentations from 2016 here.

Please note that this grant can be quite successfully combined with another summer project you may already be committed to.  Often students will have a place to stay, and a “day job,” and use this grant to extend their time or study scope while overseas.

To apply, please fill out the attached form and mail it to climatechange@yale.edu with the subject line “Pulitzer Fellowship” by March 13th, 2017.  In order to help hone your ideas, the attached story build-out form (we use it for reporters to pitch stories for Yale Climate Connections, our daily 90 second radio program about climate impacts and solutions) may be useful. You will be notified by March 31st.
