What connects agriculture, land, and equity? In what ways can social justice inform the future of land tenure in the American South?

Join us for a Pierson College Tea on MLK Day and hear Savi Horne, Executive Director of the Land Loss Prevention Project (LLPP) share her insights on agricultural justice law. Director Horne will speak about her decades of experience in coalition-building and connecting socially disadvantaged farmers, particularly farmers of color, with the resources and recourse they need.

Savonala “Savi” Horne is Executive Director of the North Carolina Association of Black Lawyers’ Land Loss Prevention Project, a non-profit law firm that has offered legal representation of clients, community economic development, and professional outreach in the effort to promote wealth, land preservation, and rural livelihoods for more than 33 years. As a state, regional, and national non-governmental organization leader, Savi has been instrumental in addressing the needs of socially disadvantaged farmers and rural communities. She graduated from Rutgers University, School of Law–Newark, New Jersey, and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1990.
