Robert Dubrow and Marianne Engelman-Lado to offer course on climate change, sustainability, environmental justice, and public health

Practicum in Climate Change, Sustainability, Environmental Justice, and Public Health (EPH 555b)

In this course, interdisciplinary student teams (3-5 students each) carry out applied public health research or practice projects in the area of climate change, sustainability, environmental justice, and public health.  Each team works with a sponsoring organization.

Dr. Dubrow serves as Faculty Director for a new Climate Change and Health Initiative at Yale School of Public Health and is on the Advisory Board of Cool Effect, a program that identifies some of the best carbon emission reduction projects in the world and makes it simple for supporters to donate.

Marianne Engelman Lado is a Florence Rogatz Visiting Professor of Law at Yale Law School. She is currently a Senior Staff Attorney at Earthjustice, where her work focuses on civil rights enforcement in the environmental context as well as toxics, waste, industrial agriculture, and the effects of environmental contamination on vulnerable populations. She previously served for ten years as General Counsel at New York Lawyers for Public Interest, and worked for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. She has previously taught at Columbia Law School.

The course will meet on Wednesdays, 5:00 - 6:50 PM.
