Congratulations to the Environmental Studies Class of 2026!

The Environmental Studies (EVST) program proudly celebrates the Class of 2026 and their many accomplishments. This year, 48 students graduated from the program, continuing EVST’s tradition of interdisciplinary scholarship and leadership. On May 18, the cohort officially joined the Yale alum community, with 16 students earning a Bachelor of Science degree and 32 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Our graduates represent a diverse global community, coming to New Haven from across the United States and international homes including Canada, England, Germany, New Zealand, and Malaysia. 

The Class of 2026 distinguished itself through a wide range of academic pursuits. Eleven students completed double majors, integrating environmental perspectives with disciplines across the humanities and sciences. They included two students each in Political Science and Statistics & Data Science, and individual double majors in Economics, Urban Studies, Environmental Engineering, Global Affairs, History, History of Science, Medicine & Public Health, and Theater, Dance, & Performance Studies. 

Beyond their primary degrees, members of the cohort earned 17 certificates, reflecting specialized expertise in critical global issues and interdisciplinary fields. These included seven certificates in Energy Studies, three in Food, Agriculture, and Climate Change, two in Climate Science and Solutions, two in Education Studies, two in Spanish Language Studies, and one in Data Science.

The Class of 2026 is embarking on a wide range of impactful careers and academic pursuits across the globe. Graduates will continue their studies at institutions including the Yale School of the Environment, the University of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Art, Sciences Po, and the University of Rhode Island. Others are beginning careers in Yale research labs, investment banking in New York City, non-profit work in New Haven, conservation work in Indonesia, and environmental consulting in Colorado. Their diverse paths reflect a shared commitment to creating a better future.

The Class of 2026 embodied the interdisciplinary spirit of Environmental Studies throughout their time at Yale, and their ambition and sense of purpose continue to inspire us as they begin their next chapter. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the creative, innovative solutions they are prepared to contribute to the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Whether conducting field research, leading campus sustainability initiatives, or competing as varsity athletes, they have demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and leadership-qualities that will drive positive change in their future endeavors.
