Roan Hollander '26 is an incoming Master of Environmental Management student at the Yale School of the Environment

Roan Hollander designed a custom concentration in Urban and Coastal Resilience, combining her interests in urban ecology, climate adaptation, water resources, and nature-based solutions. She also earned Yale’s Energy Studies Certificate, creating an interdisciplinary program that reflected her passion for building more resilient and sustainable communities.

Her senior essay explored the potential of aquatic nature-based solutions to improve both climate resilience and socioeconomic resilience in New Haven. Throughout her time at Yale, Roan complemented her academic work with extensive hands-on experience. She worked with Urban Resources Initiative, contributing to tree planting, urban forest management, and community partnerships throughout New Haven. She also completed a Hixon Center Fellowship with the World Resources Institute, studied abroad in Spain and Morocco through an IES program, and served as both an EVST Peer Mentor and Student Coordinator, helping to build the welcoming community that defines the Environmental Studies program.

Following graduation, she joined The Nature Conservancy through the Yale Conservation Scholars–Early Leadership Initiative, where she continued her work to advance climate resilience and conservation efforts. From winter 2026 to summer 2027, she will be working for the US Forest Service on their Stewardship Mapping Project (STEW-MAP) with a focus on the Hudson River Estuary before returning to Yale to pursue a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) at the Yale School of the Environment.
