Anna B. Albright ’23 is the Co-Founder and CEO of Clema, building next-generation on-body cooling for the 2.4 billion people who work in extreme heat.
Clema’s smart cooling suspenders cool the skin 30°F+ across a full 8–12 hour shift on a single battery swap, with no ice or water, addressing a major gap in heat-illness prevention for workers in construction, energy, manufacturing, logistics, and other industries where traditional air conditioning isn’t practical. In under six months, Albright raised $1.6 million in pre-seed funding and landed enterprise customers in energy and logistics. She is also the only startup founder on the ISEA 600 committee helping develop standards related to OSHA’s first federal heat-safety rule.
Albright’s path to Clema began more than a decade earlier. At 16, she testified at the Massachusetts State House on climate legislation. At Yale, she studied Environmental Studies and Energy Studies, served on the board of the Yale Student Investment Group, and founded and led its climate-focused investing team. Her senior essay, advised by Michael Oristaglio, examined the policy and institutional barriers to building the infrastructure needed to decarbonize the U.S. electrical grid.
After Yale, Albright structured green debt at J.P. Morgan before joining Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where she worked with major industrial and energy companies. Her experience across climate policy, energy, sustainable finance, and industrial operations ultimately led her to Clema and one of the most immediate challenges facing workers in a warming world: extreme heat.
Her path from Yale Environmental Studies and Energy Studies to sustainable finance, industrial and energy consulting, and entrepreneurship reflects a decade spent understanding complex environmental problems—and ultimately building practical technology to solve them.
