“Coastal Ocean Methane Dynamics”
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas that plays a major role in controlling the Earth’s climate. The multiple sources and complex biogeochemistry of methane make global estimates sensitive to statistical assumptions and sampling design. In this talk, I discuss spatial and temporal variability of methane emissions from coastal ocean environments on regional and global scale and in comparison to other global natural and anthropogenic methane sources and sinks.
