Applications for the Summer Environmental Fellowship and Climate Technologies Fellowship are open

January 10, 2023

The Environmental Studies program is excited to announce that applications for its Summer Environmental Fellowship (SEF) and Climate Technologies Fellowship are now open. All Yale undergraduates (rising sophomores through rising seniors) interested in learning about environmental issues are welcome to apply. EVST juniors are especially encouraged to apply for the SEF to support summer senior essay research.

A wide variety of summer plans qualify for the SEF, as long as they provide students with an environmental research or training opportunity. Potential topics of work include but are not limited to environmental justice, community empowerment, sustainability advocacy, public health research, environmental policy and ecological field studies. The Summer Climate Technologies Fellowship was awarded for the first time last year and is available to all Yale College undergraduates interested in technologies related to climate change. The application deadline for both fellowships is March 29th.

Students interested in applying for the SEF or Climate Technologies Fellowship should visit the Yale Student Grants & Fellowships website here and search for “Summer Environmental Fellowship.”  View a full list of past SEF awards here and an interactive map of Summer Environmental Fellowships awarded since 2014  here. Read about EVST’s 2022 Climate Technologies Fellow, Rebecca Wessel EVST ‘24, here.

The are many other Yale Fellowships available to fund summer research relating to a variety of environmental topics. Check out the special edition of the EVST newsletter and this Yale Environmental Fellowships document to help you get started on the fellowship application process and for additional fellowship and internship opportunities.
