Essay Abstract:
Developers and policy makers, the people paying the bills and writing the legislation, are the ones deciding what gets designed, engineered, and built–and in what ways. These are the people deciding what kinds of places we all inevitably spend our entire lives in. By demonstrating to them that RD can transform the built environment from the largest problem causer of the climate and mental health crises to the largest solution generator, we can potentially convince these important decision makers to develop spaces that are affordable for occupants, profitable for owners, and enable people to become co-evolving participants in dynamic ecosystems for health and stability now and for future generations.
