Paulo Brando’s research focuses in identifying ecological thresholds beyond which global changes cause abrupt, prolonged degradation of terrestrial ecosystems by stressing, disturbing, and killing forests. He has also studied ecological and climatological boundaries for tropical agricultural expansion and intensification. His research has broaden our understanding of how tropical conservation mitigates climate change.
