Dr. Shimon Anisfeld, known to his students and colleagues as Shimi, sees himself as an educator first and a researcher second. Two primary areas of interest have driven Dr. Anisfeld’s teaching and research at Yale over the last 2+ decades: coastal ecosystems and freshwater management. Besides courses in coastal ecology, water management, and water quality, Anisfeld also teaches Physical Science Foundations for Environmental Managers. Anisfeld sees water issues as central to the challenges facing the world in the coming decades, and hopes to help train environmental professionals who are well-equipped to face these challenges.
