RE-AMP Network Summer Policy Internship

The RE-AMP Network is a network of 120+ member non-profit organizations (“members”)
collectively working towards a North Star goal: “to equitably eliminate greenhouse gas
emissions in the Midwest by 2050.” We work in 10 states: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas,
Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. We focus on building
connections, collective strategy, and capacity by offering our members opportunities to share
information and resources, participate in collaborative projects, and build their skills. Our
priorities are Energy, Agriculture, Transportation, and Power Building.

As a Summer Research Intern, you will be a valued member of our small (10 person) staff
team and large (500 person) collaborative network. You will have the opportunity to conduct
research, develop subject-matter expertise, participate in trainings or Network calls, meet
advocates from a wide range of climate advocacy organizations across the Midwest as well as
national organizations, and contribute directly to the network’s collaborative work. 

Specific work to be performed would be tailored to the intern’s skills and interests, but could include:

● Preparing a “Legislative Wrap-Up” summarizing state policies introduced, relevant to our
strategic priorities, in 2026 State Legislative Sessions across our 10-state region
● Data gathering and mapping data center expansion in the Midwest
● Conducting interviews with RE-AMP members, communities with a stake in our
research, or government officials
● Creating graphs, images, and slide decks to be used in calls, events, or research
● Facilitating a webinar or giving presentations
The intern will be expected to work 35 hours/week for 8 weeks and will be supervised by
RE-AMP’s Researcher, Ruthie Davis. As we are not able to offer funding for the role, we will
only accept interns who can access funding through their school or an external source. We will
not employ an unpaid intern.
Required qualifications:
● A demonstrated interest in Energy, Agriculture, or Transportation systems, or in climate
change mitigation broadly
● Ability to learn or adapt quickly
● Experience working both independently and collaboratively
● Team-player
Preferred qualifications:
● Interest in public policy and the non-profit sector
● Familiarity with Google Workspace
● Familiarity with Canva and DataWrapper, and/or experience making charts, graphs, and
other graphics
● Published writing, or other writing experience
● Residence in IA, IL, IN, KS, MI, MN, ND, OH, SD, or WI
